Airsoft Rifles Overview

By Justin Kander

Most people think of airsoft rifles as just AEGs, but many types of airsoft rifles exist. While some kinds are better than others, the unique features of each type make them all acceptable.

Before making a purchasing decision, it is best to be familiarized with the types so you can make the optimal choice. It may be tempting to rush in to buying, but you will thank yourself later if you take your time.

The cheapest kind of airsoft rifle is the LPEG, or low-priced electric gun. These models are very affordable and make great gifts. Do not let the price fool you, though, as some LPEGs can reach speeds of the highest quality airsoft rifles.

The second type of rifle is the MPEG, or mid-priced electric gun. They are more pricey than LPEGs, but the difference is price is made up for with quality. Echo1 and similar brands can be classified as MPEGs.

Full on automatic electric guns (AEGs) are the best kind, as they are full metal and have extremely high firing rates. Brands such as Classic Army and Tokyo Marui focus on AEGs. For the serious airsoft player, owning an AEG is a must.

The next type of rifle is the gas rifle. Instead of using electric power, gas rifles are equipped with green gas or CO2. Since gas is stronger than electricity, gas rifles have higher firing rates than electric guns.

For beginners, spring rifles are the best option, as they are easy to use and have a low price. Also falling under the category of spring rifles are sniper rifles, which are especially powerful rifles that can propel pellets long distances.

As elaborated upon, the wide variety of options available makes the possibility of finding the perfect airsoft gun quite high. With so many types and individual choices, one can spend hours finding a model that meets their exact requirements.
