Probably, everyone that you talk to today is familiar with the concept of positive thinking and it's apparent power. However, I have found, in talking to many people, that even though they have attempted to utilize this power of thought, they have been very disappointed with the results. For some, it seemed to be a hit and miss thing. For others, it was a complete failure.
Why is it that for some it never worked and for others it was inconsistent? Should we then just assume that it's a load of nonsense? Hundreds of books have been written on the subject of the power of positive thinking. Many of these books have been on the New York Best Sellers list for long periods of time. With that being the case, one would assume that there must be something to it.
Over the past number of years I have read numerous books and spent many hours studying the power of thoughts. What I have learned, is that the subconscious mind is thousands of times more powerful than our conscious mind. This is the reason why we regularly end up sabotaging ourselves, because we do not recall the memories that are locked in our subconscious and how they prevent us from accomplishing our goals.
I highly recommend a book entitled "Beyond Positive Thinking. A No-Nonsense Formula for Getting the Results you Want". The author is Dr. Robert Anthony. He explains why we have to find a way to reprogram the negative memories because if we don't we will continue to self-sabotage and continue to fail to reach our goals.
For example, our goal might be to buy that waterfront property that we know is coming on the market next year. We think constantly about it and we have written affirmations that we recite daily. We have even made ourselves an impressive 'vision board' with a large full color picture of us standing outside the home. We have blown the picture up and it practically covers the entire board. We spend time each day looking at it and visualizing living in that home.
Let's now fast foward a year and check on our progress. We find that we are no closer to realizing our dream home. What happened? One of the main reasons is that there are negative memories that are locked in our subconscious and they are even locked in at the cellular level. These memories are so much more powerful than our conscious thoughts and until we can identify them and neutralize them, we are going to be unsuccessful in reaching our goals. On a subconscious level we might feel that it's impossible to ever be able to afford such a house or perhaps we feel deep down that we are not worthy to own such a home.
If we can get to a point where there is no conflict between what we consciously want and what is in our subconscious, then there will be nothing to interfere with our manifesting our goals. However, it is guaranteed that if there is a conflict then the subconscious will win out each and every time.
Positive thinking is obviously always the better way to go but to ensure that we get the results we are looking for, we have to do a detailed self-examination and understand the hidden and locked-in negative thinking that could be holding us back from the desired outcome.
I truly believe that everything is possible, but we have to do a little homework to get there....just thinking it so is not going to do it!!
We can all have whatever our hearts desire. There is an abundance of everything to go around. All we have to do is erase those negative memories from our subconscious and we will be well on our way to the success we so richly deserve.
