Fish Provides Help for Juvenile Diabetics

By Michael Byrd

Don't you just like it when you discover that there are simple solutions to some of life's biggest problems? According to the latest scientific research, there is a very simple solution for juvenile diabetes, a condition that has affected millions of children around the world. The solution ? salmon!

The Norwegian Institute of Health revealed that children who were fed with cod liver oil by their parents (standby, I'll get to the salmon later) during the early years have a lesser chance of developing juvenile diabetes by more than 25%, as based on the research that they conducted. This important discovery was even published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition.

The Scientists who studied these results believe that the anti inflammatory capabilities of omega 3 fatty acids in some fishes that contain high amounts of EPA and DHA are the ones responsible for this. Oh that was quite a mouthful, but it can work wonders. Salmon happens to be the biggest source of EPA and DHA. (Like I told you I'd get to salmon!)

There are two types of diabetes: type 1 and type 2. With both types, the person is not able to produce sufficient amounts of insulin and this causes blood sugar problems. Adults usually get the type 2 diabetes while children get the type 1. But recently, there has been an alarming rise of children also getting the type 2 diabetes because of a poor lifestyle health habit.

Type 1 diabetes usually starts during childhood and adolescence. The normal production of insulin is interrupted and a patient will then require daily injections of insulin. Long term dependence on insulin injections can have side effects. Fifteen years from the onset, more than 80% experience major eye damage. Others can have kidney failure and may need dialysis to survive. Before they even reach mid-fifties, around 35% of juvenile diabetics may die of heart attack.

It can really be remarkable how omega 3 fish can save lives of diabetics. Years ago, research has already begun proving that EPA and DHA can give lots of health benefits including the management of type 2 diabetes. The latest research however reveals that it can also be used for type 1 diabetes. It can make you so happy that you may want to kiss a fish.(Or on second thought!)

Cold water fish like cod and salmon contains EPA and DHA. The Arctic Ocean water is a great source of salmon which contains the purest and most potent omega 3 oil. Since the usual cause of type 1 diabetes is an autoimmune disease, the anti-inflammatory properties found in omega 3 fish oils is said to be what has convinced scientists that fish oil can help juvenile diabetics.

If ingested by mothers during their pregnancy and nursing, pure fish oil that contains EPA and DHA can provide other life-long health benefits for their children. It can improve the nervous system, vision and hearing of a baby. Research also proves that omega 3 fish oil is essential in the development of the baby's brain, making them intelligent.

Thus if you want to see your children grow up to be smart, strong and healthy, I highly recommend that you make sure you and your family include cold water fish and high doses of omega 3 salmon oil capsules to your daily diet.
