Knowing How To Choose Your Flooring

By Qandishah Brown

We dont usually give much thought to our home flooring but it is actually something very important. Choosing the right flooring for your home needs attention since this is something that you will be living with for a very long time. Whats more is that it will also determine the type of maintenance that you will be doing. It is possible to use a mix of flooring depending on the area that you are covering.

A great option for flooring that is cheap and easy to maintain as well is vinyl. It can be ideal for places like the kitchen since its surface is resilient and has a tendency to bounce things off; dropping something breakable might not be as disastrous on a vinyl floor. To keep it looking clean and new, sweeping and mopping is all you need to do. An occasional wax will help keep the shine.

Bathrooms will definitely need something that is waterproof. Tiles work best for this area. Maintenance for this type of flooring is easy as well. Just a bit of mopping and youre good. A scrub once in a while with some detergent will make sure that all the spaces in between stay spot clean. Areas that are prone to be wet dont work well with tiles since they can be slippery.

If you want something that can work for several different areas such as the dining room, living room and hallway, hardwood is great. As flooring, hardwood can be durable but prone to scratches and dullness. To make sure that it maintains its sheen regular waxing and buffing is recommended. This will help keep hardwood in tip top shape.

If you are looking for something that is warm and cozy that will give a lot of color choices, carpeting is the way to go. Carpeting can go a long way if you know how to maintain and take care of it. Compared to other flooring carpeting may require a bit more care and maintenance. Regular vacuuming and cleaning will allow you to keep the dirt out and prolong your carpets life as well.
