Availability of Intensive Dance Programs

By Sarah Wilkiamson

Different people have varying levels of commitment. The usual dance lessons are weekly. However there are some who want to really commit to a more intensive schedule. For these individuals more intensive programs have been designed, which take place 2 or 3 times a week.

This more rigorous option can prove beneficial for many reasons. The following are two examples of when you may want to consider some additional sessions for your child.

There are occasions when people realize that their child has a genuine gift for dance and may need more lessons. A gift like the ability to dance, or any art form, should always be encouraged. It may mean sacrificing some time for additional lessons, but the extra work will pay off when the rewards start to show. It is a wise move to enquire if schools will offer this service, after all, a confident school should expect its teachers to uncover exceptional talent and have provision for that exceptional talent.

You may also require more intensive dancing schedules when you need more help for your child, who may love dancing but is having trouble keeping up with the others in the class. A few extra lessons can make the difference and help your child to keep up with the rest of the students and stop them feeling frustrated and falling behind the rest of the class. It may be that the extra schedule isn't permanent; they may only require these extra classes for a short time.

Schools that offer extra classes are fully supportive of students with different levels of commitment. Young children need this backup, especially when they first begin dance lessons. This is because they are easily frustrated at this age when skills take time to learn.

Everyone learns at a different pace and your child is no exception. Having the option for extra lessons can prove very useful in the long run. Just a little extra time can make all the difference between success and failure. It is a tragedy when young children with talent give up due to frustration when a few extra lessons would have solved the problem.

Given these two factors you will need to find a dance school that offers these intensive classes. You can look online and in your local yellow pages. Online you will find many websites which will give you a lot of information about the company. The about us pages are where you will get this information.

Once you have found some schools that look promising you can call and get brochures. Then you can go to the school you have in mind and find out their full curriculum. If possible try to meet the people who will be teaching your child. Do not forget to bring your child along as well. This will take a little time initially but will be worth it in the end. Remember the easier you make it for your child to learn the better they will be. A few extra dance lessons and a more intensive course can make all the difference to your child. So take time to check out this factor when you are looking for a good dance school for your child.
