Finish off your Deck or Fence with Post Caps & Finials

By Ed Drake

Builders are always giving away special deals for people who are willing to buy their homes. It wasnt long ago, a friend bought one of these homes and he had a couple of choices from the builder and he chose to have a deck built out back and a fence put up to enclose his backyard.

They spent several weeks trying to determine what kind of fence they wanted and the decking materials. The wife insisted on wood for both and, well, you know the rest, wood it was! So with everything decided, the work began.

Once all was built the homeowner looked around and stated that something was missing. Though the workmanship was near perfection and it all looked so much better than before there was still that something extra, that thing that would set this space apart, that spark that was just not there. They just were not completely satisfied.

Not long after the project was through, the wife was looking through one of her favorite home dcor magazines and saw a fence top that she loved and she realized she didnt know what these things were called. After sharing it with her husband the search was on to find out what it was and were they could get them. To their surprise, it didnt take long to find out that these toppers were called post caps!

They looked at many post caps and finials until they found exactly what they were looking for to finish off their new deck and fence. It ended up being such an easy an inexpensive fix to what seemed such a disappointment. Who could have known these little toppers could make such a visual difference in the look of a yard.

After much discussion, it was decided to order the copper post caps for the deck and the wood finials for the fence posts. Since the instructions were so easy to follow they even did the installation themselves in one short afternoon. Now everything is right with the world and weuh, I mean they can sit out on the deck drinking their morning coffee or enjoying a glass of wine while the sun sets because their deck and fence is complete!
