Weber Grills - The Grandaddy of Outdoor Cooking

By Mike Pit

Weber Grills are at the heart of the outdoor grilling revolution that happened when World War II ended. George Stephen Sr., at the time was residing in Mount Prospect, IL., was irritated over combating the elements when trying to do grilling at his home in an open brazier style.

He decided to solve this situation in a big way. Now this is history...

His first solution was quite easily accomplished due to the fact that he was employed by Weber Brothers Metal Works, which was a metal fabricating company. He made a round hood by cutting a buoy into halves that was made of metal, and viola he actually invented his first version of the kettle grill.

When Mr. Stephens had finished perfecting his grill he began marketing it to great success. The success of the kettle grill led to a name change for the company, to the Weber-Stephens Product Company. A couple of years later George Stephens was able to purchase the company and become the sole owner.

Grillers all across America could now keep their steaks and burgers out of the wind and rain. They also found they could get a new smokey taste and keep their meat moist. Back in the 1950's the $50 price tag may have seemed steep but consumers paid the price because they loved this improvement in grilling. Other grills were selling for around $7. Just like today's oversized, over gadgetized grills, this simple grill was something of a status symbol back then.

The Weber Kettle Grill started spreading across the country past the Midwest when the retailers started selling it throughout this country. The age of the backyard covered grill had started and there was no stopping it.

Which Weber Grill Works For You?

Everyone wants one of those high-end fancy grills, even when they're just a beginner, and Weber delivers quality products regardless of price. Most of the competition tries to sell comparable products, but the quality just doesn't stand up to a comparison to a similar Weber product.

The Weber Spirit E-310 Gas Grill: I've gone cheap many times when buying a grill and each time they've fallen apart in short order. It seems like the starter mechanism fails and then parts start falling off or rusting. Most people don't calculate the cost of replacing a cheap grills every few years.

If you look for a grill that might cost a bit more, but lasts years longer, wouldn't that be a great deal? Spending a little bit more now will save you many dollars down the road. The E-310 is a perfect example of a low cost grill that is in the high quality family. You need to check this out if even if you have a large family to feed, but need to do it on a budget. Weber's lower end products compare in quality to their competitors higher end lines. But don't take my word for it, look for reviews of Weber grills from consumers just like you. You'll also gain more insight into the daily wear and tear you'll see in different parts of the country.

Weber Genesis number E310 Gas Grill: Are you needing a more improved grill? The Genesis line winds up being a good mid level grill compared to the low end Spirit and the higher end Summit grills go.

It's no comparison when you have a grill that lasts 3 years on one hand, and a grill that lasts 10 years or more on the other. Isn't the latter worth a few dollars more? Don't rely solely on my advice. My website has Weber grill reviews from consumers like you who share their experience with the real life, day to day use, or their Weber product.

The Weber Summit S-450 Natural Gas Grill: If you're worried about being top (Hot) dog on the block, the Summit line is the one you want to buy. The 6 burner S-650 or the 4 burner S-450 are the best of the best in the Weber product family. Unlike other makes, parts are easy to find for Weber grills, so if you ever do have a problem, it's no problem.

When you are able to budget these grills that cost more, it's also worth looking at was the competition is offering. Almost all high end grills are made with high quality materials. But these types of grills have all sorts of neat gadgets for you should play a bit with. The joy of competition is that there are always new things coming along.

Buying a Weber Grill

There are so few complaints about Weber grills because they are high quality products and this reputable company takes care of problems if they should arise. If you sum it all up, the company founded by the inventor of the covered grill delivers the most cost effective high quality grills available.
