Bodybuilding Supplement Misconceptions

By William Engle

For those not in the know, there are a lot of misconceptions about bodybuilding supplements. A lot of people think that these supplements are going to make them fat, make them loose their edge or make any muscle growth slow down. In fact, all of these misconceptions are just that - misconceptions. Heres the truth behind several of the bodybuilding supplement misconceptions.

Misconception: Bodybuilding supplements will make you fat. The biggest misconception about bodybuilding supplements is that they will make you fat. This is because if you look at the nutrition facts on your can of protein shakes, you are probably going to find that they contain a lot of sugar. If you are a major bodybuilder taking these supplements, you probably need the extra sugar in your diet, so using these supplements and working out rigorously are going to work to your advantage. In fact, not getting enough sugar is going to slow down your weight lifting progress, because your muscles arent going to get enough energy to work properly, which means that you wont be getting as good of a workout as you could be. In this case, bodybuilding supplements are definitely going to help you to gain muscle mass and are not going to make you fat. If you are really worried about this, just switch to a vitamin supplement and you wont have to worry about extra sugar being added.

Misconception: Bodybuilding supplements are addicting. Many people think that bodybuilding supplements are like drugs - if you use supplements, you arent going to be able to gain muscles if you ever stop using them. Of course, this is totally false. The truth is that most bodybuilders choose not to stop taking supplements because they like what they do to their bodies and they love the muscles that are a result of the supplements. If you want to get the vitamins and nutrients that your body needs through a better diet, you can stop taking your supplements at any time. The purpose of supplements is to make sure that your body has the right nutrition to grow muscle mass quickly. Of course you can get stronger without supplements, but it is easier with them.

Misconception: Bodybuilding supplements are unhealthy. There are some bodybuilders who think that supplements are unhealthy, and of course this can definitely be true depending on the supplement that you take. There are some supplements that are so filled with chemicals that they arent going to be that healthy for you, although they are probably going to be very good at building muscle mass. If you want to ensure that your bodybuilding supplements are going to be good for your health, make sure you get natural ones and ones from a company that you can trust. That way you know that your bodybuilding supplement is going to be working for you.

There are so many misconceptions about bodybuilding supplements floating around they gym. These misconceptions often start because a particular bodybuilding supplement didnt work for a bodybuilder and he told all of his friends about it. Supplements are going to be great for frequent weight lifters to build muscle, stay healthy and protect their health once they find the right one.
