Express Your Love with a Valentine Gift Basket

By Ashley King

Valentine's Day is almost certainly the romantic highlight of the year. Most people choose to express their love on this day with a special gift. If you want to make a big impression on your loved one, you should make a Valentine gift basket. You can fill it with special treats and presents to show your love and caring. It's much more personal than the usual roses and chocolates.

However, these items can still be the basis of a thoughtful gift basket. Beautiful flowers and rich chocolates are always a good idea for a Valentine's Day basket. Find some truly excellent chocolate and place it in an attractive basket. Add a cute and cuddly stuffed toy, and lay a single red rose on top. Wrap it in cellophane, tie it with a red ribbon and decorate with some heart decorations. Elegant and understated.

If you'd like to go to some trouble to really impress your significant other, there are lots of other ideas for what to put in a Valentine gift basket. Consider a basket loaded up with spa bath products. With the addition of a good book, a bottle of wine and a scented candle, you've created a relaxing spa basket. Other more expensive items that can be presented in a gift basket are heart shaped jewelry, cologne or perfume.

Making a gift basket for a male isn't as hard as it might seem. Arrange some designer grooming products such as deodorant, cologne and aftershave in an elegant basket. Try filling a basket with some candy that he loves, and top it off with a trendy watch. And you can't go wrong by stuffing a big basket with his favorite munchies, along with a few bottles of his favorite beverage.

Another great idea is a Valentine's dinner basket. Rather than dining at an expensive restaurant, you can enjoy a romantic meal at home together. Start by finding a nice picnic basket. Fill it up with the ingredients for a special meal. Add a candle, a bottle of wine, and a rich dessert. Make sure you offer to do the cooking, but suggest that it would be much more romantic if you shared the workload.

Remember to include a Valentine's Day card with your basket. Make a homemade card with a personal message, if you can. Otherwise, look for a truly meaningful card, and then write a few lines about your feelings.

You can really put your creativity into making a personalized Valentine gift basket. It doesn't even matter if the traditional Valentine gifts make up part of the contents. Your loved one will be thrilled at the thought and effort you expended.
