Untreated Yeast Infection - Why It Happens

By Marsha Haworth

Yeast infection can happen in men, not just women

Without proper treatment, an untreated yeast infection can become a major illness. It is always best to find a cure and avoid a more serious problem.

More than 50 percent of women with yeast infection let the infection go untreated. There are three main reasons why this happens; they are cost, shyness, and ignorance.

Many don't have the money or financing for a doctor's appointment. Therefore cost is a big issue.

Other women are to shy to talk to their doctor about their symptoms. If you are to shy to talk your doctor and receive an examine, you will never receive the necessary treatment.

The last reason is ignorance. Many people don't realize they have yeast infection, leaving it to get worse. If you leave it to get worse, it will allow for the severity of the symptoms to increase and become a more serious health issue.

You can get a severe illness, such as Vulvovaginal Candidas or Sepsis, if a yeast infection is left untreated. Vulvovaginal Candidas is having three or more infections in just one year. Sepsis is a deadly condition of the blood stream that is a result of the spread of bacteria. But getting a severe illness from untreated yeast infection is very rare.

Having diabetes increases the chances of having an untreated yeast infection. With diabetes you may think that the yeast infection symptoms are just part of the disease, but this is not true. Make sure to watch and see if the infection is occasional, easily treatable, or reoccurring. This will tell you if the symptoms you are experiencing is a yeast infection and needs to be treated.

The flow of blood raises pH level in the body in which the yeast cells can't live. So if you have yeast infection most likely your body will take care of it on its own.
