Home Theater System Options for Every Budget

By Matt Thames

When deciding on your optimum surround sound system, you need to keep in a mind a couple things. You will definitely need to know how large the room is that you will be putting the system into. Also, how much power will be needed. There are a variety of sizes and set ups out there, depending on the size of the room and power. You do not want to be left with a loud system, or one that is not loud enough.

Knowing how much you can spend is a good idea when looking for a system. If you have a smallish room, you can get away with spending a couple hundred dollars. That would most likely include a set up with a subwoofer and 4 or 5 satellite speakers. As of late, DVD players in these set ups are equipped to upscale regular DVDs to high def. Systems with these players can cost up to five to six hundred dollars.

A lot of the newer systems are coming equipped with Ipod or mp3 player docks built in. Higher end and a few middle end systems are also including wireless rear speakers. Combine all of these things together and setting up your system is so much quicker an hassle free.

5.1 Dolby digital surround was the standard in surround systems. Newer systems are now 7.1 digital surround sound. This means that there are more speakers put in the set up. If you have a larger space then you will want to spend more money on a system.

There are home theater systems in a box that you can buy, and these offer convenience for a lower cost. But, if you are wanting a true home theater experience, you will probably want to spend the money an buy the components separately. This will ensure you get exactly what you want as well as what you need for your purposes. This can cost upwards of thousands of dollars, but it is well worth it.
