The fat smash diet was created for a VH1 show called Celebrity Fit Club, created by the diet's author Dr. Ian Smith. The diet encourages people to eat better while at the same time to become more active.

The fat smash diet creator has a long resume. He graduated from Harvard, is a medical contributor to the view television program, a medical columnist for men's health magazine, and sits on the Board of Directors of the American Council on exercise. He also created the TV show that was centered around his fat smash diet.

The fat smash diet is separated into four phases designed to smash bad habits and create new healthy habits. These phases are:

One - detox: During this nine day phase of the fat smash diet people purge their bodies and minds of bad things, while losing up to six pounds. Dr. Smith had some strangely useless suggestions for this phase such as walking around naked.

Two - foundation: Some foods removed during detox are reintegrated during this three week phase in the smash diet. These include the 3 ounces of meat or seafood, and is based on portion control rather than calorie count.

Three - construction: This a four-week phase is a time during which the dieter creates an eating plan that incorporates foods they enjoy. These foods can include desserts, pasta, bread, and many other foods restricted another types of diets such as the Atkins diet. In the fat smash diet moderation is the key.

Four - Temple: This part of the fat smash diet lasts a life time. People utilize the lessons learned about moderation to protect the temple the built throughout the first three phases.

Fat smash diet has both good and bad aspects. The weight lost in phase one is really due to starvations, which isn't good. A lot of health experts say the detox phase is ridiculous. But many of the general principles of the fat smash diet are good ones - including exercise and moderation in all foods eaten.
