Small aquariums and your fish's health

By First Class aquariums

Everyone has different hobbies, mainly to get away from everyday monotony. But mostly for enjoyment. One amazing hobby is keeping a small underwater world, called an aquarium. It is a common misconception that that fish do not live for very long. This is not true, most fish have a n average life of three to seven years! depending on species of course. Some goldfish have even lived past twenty!

Most new hobbyists would like to start in a small fish tank aquarium, of course, to learn a new thing, one should start small.

Here is a beginners guide to keeping your small underwater world healthy and vigorous.

A nano/micro fish tank aquarium must have a proper stand to keep it standing fast. A tank full of water is heavy, so do not place it on random pieces of furniture, you never know how long it will hold for. If a hobby's worth doing, do it properly.

Lighting is very important for your aquarium. Getting the right ratio is a must! you must make sure the fish tank aquarium does not have too much or too little light. Too much will create more unwanted algae, too little on the other hand slows down the growth of the plants. Fluorescent lights are the best lights to use. these will provide the right amount of light needed.

Fish tank aquariums, when looked after regualrly can keep your fish amazingly healthy. A 10-20% partial charge is usually enough. This should be done with fresh water. if using tap water it must be dechlorinated artificially or by letting it aerate for a couple of days.

Make sure the ratio of fih to tank size is adequate. If you get this wrong the water qualit will deteriorate very quickly. Keep a balance, with most of the fish being one species. You should only keep a small quantity of fish in the cleaning department.

Having a daily routine where you check your tank is essential. Watch for signs of bad health, such as drifting, gasping or lurking. Read the manufacturers instructions when changing your media filter. If your media filter is not taken care of properly, it can begin to flush toxins back into your aquarium. This is something you should never let happen.

These are only few basic steps to keep your fish healthy in a small aquarium. Of course, there are many others to consider. When you love your little ecosystem, you will find many ways to protect it and keep it as healthy as possible. Even a small tank aquarium can work wonders for you, physically, mentally and emotionally.
