By Jennifer King

If you're suffering from adult acne you'll know it's not a good thing to suffer from, This is especially if you're already concerned about your appearance. If the acne you suffered with as a teenager has returned or you've never lost it you're in good company. Adult acne distresses 25% of all adult men and 50% of adult women at some time in their adult lives. 20% of women between the ages of 25 and 40 suffer from acne. It doesn't matter what age you are acne is difficult to deal with, and may lead to depression and social nervousness in an adult the same way it can in a teen.

Acne has a tendency to run in families. The possibility of you suffering from adult acne is higher if one of your parents suffered from it. In addition, adults with oily skin forms are more apt to acne breakouts. Adult acne may be exasperating, but don't quit hope. Acne treatments are more effective now than they have ever been, and more natural cures are coming to light because of the way they deal with the problem from the root cause.

Hormones are to blame for a lot of cases of adult acne. In women the birth control pill, pregnancy and menstruation commonly cause acne because of the hormonal changes they cause. As well as hormonal changes, there are other reasons for acne breakouts in adults.

Acne can also be caused by bad cosmetics and stress. Stress can lead to over productive oil glands. Your pores have a much higher risk of being blocked with bacteria if you wear bad cosmetics. These things can easily be reversed if you think that they're causing your acne breakouts

Your doctor can prescribe chemical based treatments for your acne or you can treat yourself naturally. Where years ago everyone would need a chemical treatment, natural cures are being used by more sufferers. We can thank researchers for this, and they now know that acne has a cause like most other infections, and natural cures attack the acne from the cause.

However you choose to treat your acne is up to you. Because there is no one cause of acne all treatments have a different affect on everyone. All you need to do is some trial and error so you can find what treatment is the one for you.
