Domestic Helper USA Visa: Reviewing the Rules

By Alice Sy

Many households and private employers all over the world are dependent on a reliable domestic helper. USA Visa acquisition is therefore necessary for anyone trying to work as a domestic helper in the U.S. There are several requirements necessary before a domestic helper can work legally on American soil.

The type of visa which a domestic helper needs to apply for is a non-immigrant visa. This is necessary since the helper is not planning to migrate to the U.S., after all. A domestic helper can accompany his or her employer who is on vacation, returning permanently, or is relocating temporarily to the U.S.

When it comes to being legally recognized in the U.S. as a domestic helper, USA Visa must be granted by the US Embassy. A visa cannot be granted without the necessary procedures which include the submission of requirements, a scheduled appointment, and an interview that needs to be successfully completed.

If you are intending to acquire a visa as a personal employee, you need first of all, to pay the necessary application fee, which is basically non-refundable. The fee varies depending on your country of residency. However, the fee can be valid for use anytime within one year of the date of issuance.

Over the web, there is an application form in electronic format which needs to be filled up by the domestic helper. USA Visa cannot be given to anyone who does not follow the stipulated requirements. Furthermore, a very recent photo of the domestic helper applying for visa is required.

Along with these documents, an existing contract between employee and employer must also be shown to the designated embassy authorities during the interview. This will be proof that the domestic helper already has a job waiting for him or her in the U.S.

It is also highly important for the domestic helper to present a proof of residence or home ownership in his or her home country which is not intended for abandonment. Intention of overstaying is not allowed for a domestic helper. USA Visa approval in this case can be put to risk.

The domestic helper must also be employed already by his or her employer for not less than a year. Once the needed documents are submitted and the interview questions effectively answered by the domestic helper, USA Visa consent won't be far from possible.
