Making the Most of Bike Holidays

By Ken Morris

When vacationing, you have many choices when it comes to the mode of transportation you want to use. While most people travel by car, airplane, or bus, you can take a different route and travel by motorcycle. This way, you can stop anywhere you want, see sites that cannot be reached by car, and take your time while on vacation. Many people enjoy riding motorcycles on the weekends, so it is not unusual for people to travel on their bikes to new destinations.

Traveling with bikes can be done alone, or with a group of motorcycle enthusiasts. You can plan in advance by researching which places to visit while on the road. There are many places to see in New Mexico. You can visit Indian reservations, famous towns like Roswell or Albuquerque, or camp out under the stars when visiting the desert. Since you will be traveling by motorcycle, you can choose when to travel and when to take a rest.

If you are a Civil War buff, or you want to learn more about how people made their way west, why not follow the old cow herding trails? There are many old battlefields to be see across the America that are much more interesting when you are standing in them than seeing them from the window of a tour bus. Being able to travel the old roads settlers used is an experience like no other. Before taking your vacation, buy a map or GPS and plot points that you want to see along the way as well as hotels in which to stay. This will add excitement to your trip and help you have an even better time.

Another great place to travel to on your bike is Las Vegas, Nevada. This city hosts motorcycle conventions and other events for those with motorcycles a few times during the year. Once you arrive, park your bike and enjoy gambling, shows, and other attractions. You will enjoy the nightlife and the freedom of riding your bike through the city. After you have had your fill of Las Vegas, you can head out into the desert and enjoy the calm peacefulness of the moon and stars.

Traveling on a motorbike can offer you more options than traditional transportation. Not only will you be able to see more while on vacation, you will also be able to save time by riding on empty highways or back roads and staying in certain locations for longer periods of time.

If you are new to the world of motorcycles, you should become more comfortable with your bike before taking it on long excursions. But once you are ready, be prepared to see more on this vacation than you ever have before. Many people enjoy taking these vacations a few times during the year, either alone or with a group of others who own motorcycles.
