Outdoor Gifts and Decor

By Jimmy Underwood

This time year we are told that it's all about giving. However, what I have found it to be is about finding the perfect gift. You can't give the perfect gift unless you find it first and that's not always easy to do. In fact, it's the part that can be down right frustrating.

After fighting the crowds and traffic I finally get to the mall only to discover that the outdoor gifts I am looking to give are not in stock because they are out of season. It's crazy because what I would like to give is not available.

Now you know why I do 99% of my shopping on the internet. I don't worry about items not being in stock and I don't fight traffic and crowds. It's the perfect way for me to purchase gifts at any time of the year.

There is also a great variety of items to look at in the garden and outdoor gift area. They have a huge range price wise and so you can purchase simple gazing balls and garden toads to elaborate iron wall friezes and garden statues. The prices literally range in the below twenty-five dollars to several hundreds of dollars so you can find gifts for everyone if it's appropriate.

One of the things I enjoy about shopping over the internet is that I can always go to the fall back position and shop fot those items that every gardener can use. That can be planters, hanging baskets or flower pots. There are some items that you just can't have enough of.

I also have friends who are more feelings orientated and emotional about their gardens. These guys really care about every item that goes into the garden and want a natural flow from front to back. I really have to think about their gifts to make sure they will work with what they already have.

For them, I look for the small statues, a bird feeder or house, maybe a gazing ball or lantern for them to hang. Just a little something that will remind them of this years holiday season and the gift they will see in their yard from now on. I love to shop for these guys because I know the gift will become a story and I can't wait to hear it through the years.

The last thing I love about shopping this way is the fact that I don't have the pack and ship anything! I can pay online and have them ship it to wherever it goes. I know there are all these free shipping deals and if I find something with free shipping then okay. However, I would rather pay to get someone else to ship my gifts any day rather then ship them myself.

Let's talk about this free shipping thing anyway. With the cost of shipping these companies can't afford to give shipping to you for free so I'm sure they raise the prices to absorb some, if not all of the shipping expenses. It's a lot more important to me to find a company that gives me a good selection to choose from at a good competitive price that I can trust. I will pay for shipping every time from a company like that. Wouldn't you?
