Packing For Your Cruise

By Ken Morris

Holiday planning can be all consuming if you are not careful and this makes it very easy to forget some of the essential details. Packing is one of the most common areas where holiday preparation breaks down and this can make your cruise more stressful and more expensive, because you will have to hunt and purchase needed items.

You may remember to take your hat to protect your face, neck, and shoulders from sunburn while you are strolling on the beach or sitting by the pool, but you could forget your sunglasses. Some people are guilty of packing too many items, instead of too few. This can cause you to have to pack and carry much more than you need or are able to handle. That is why you want to consider some of these easy-to-follow tips for your holiday planning and packing.

Most likely, you will not forget items like your alarm clock, camera, or Ipod, but you may forget some of the other things. Be sure that you pack extra batteries for any of these items that operate via batteries, because they can be more expensive on board the ship.

One item that can be virtually impossible or difficult to replace if you forget them is your prescription medications. There is an infirmary on board the ship, but they do not carry as wide of a medication selection as your local pharmacy and may not be able to give you the medication that you need and take on a regular basis. It is really helpful to place medication in both your suitcase and in your carry-on, just in case one of your suitcases are stolen or lost. This can be a lifesaver for you.

You will want to take at least two bathing suits. This is helpful if you are going to be swimming quite a bit, because you will be able to put on a dry suit, which is much more comfortable. You will also feel better about yourself if you are not wearing the same swimsuit everyday. Towels are in your bathroom, but you will want to pack some beach towels if you want a larger towel. Don't forget other beach essentials like sandals, sunscreen, and sunglasses, either.

Recording your cruise for the future can be the way to remember the details of your fun trip in the future. Be sure that you pack additional batteries and memory for your digital camera, as well as film if needed. A notebook or journal can give you a great place to write down your memories or keep track of your activities, so that you can go back to them later. This can help you to remember the details of each day that you spent on the high seas. You could even write a book based on your experiences if you want. By carefully making your holiday preparations and making packing lists, you will be well on your way to having everything that you will need to have fun and adventure on your cruise.
