Selecting the right Dog Toys for Your Dog.

By Todd Martin

It is very difficult to decide which toy is the favourite and right one for your dog. Dog Toys are the favourite of dogs and puppies; one can find a wide range of dog toys in the market. Few of them are plush toys, to tennis balls, to rubber toys; the right choice has to be made by you. When you are buying new toys for your dog remember the first thing to consider is the size of your dog. As depending on the size of your dog the toys has to be purchased. For instance the large dog surely needs a different toy than a small dog. Also remember to keep in mind that you take that kind dog toy which should be of a size that your dog can't swallow. When your dog is running or playing with a ball it may so happen that your dog swallows the ball accidentally.

Another point to consider is how rough your dog plays and it's energy level. Is he or she a real strong chewer? Then stronger, denser toys will be needed. Or does the dog simply like to cuddle with a toy? Then a soft, plush doll type of toy would be the answer. Safety should be your first concern when choosing dog toys. Read the label carefully. What is the toy made from? Are some parts toxic? Sometimes, inner parts of dog toys are made of toxic materials, so it's important that you keep an eye on the dog while playing with this type of toy.

If the toy falls apart or is chewed apart, you need to take the toy away and throw it in the trash. If you're in the habit of leaving your dog for long periods each day, consider a toy which will involve activity for your dog, such as a toy that bounces funny, makes noises or has a treat hidden inside. These toys will keep your dog occupied while you're not at home. When you give your dog a new toy, make sure to remove any labels, price tags, bows, ribbons or packaging. These can cause your dog to choke.

The toys which can keep your dogs occupied for a longer period of time are the simplest toys. Perfer buying that toy which has a rope tied on one end. With this kind of toy the dog will be busy for a long period of time trying to unravel this type of toy. For example, if you want to rotate your toys then keep changing your dog toys. Give your dog new toys for Christmas, and then put the old, summer toys away for a while. Everyone likes variety in they own life, in the same way variety is good for dogs also.

Ideal choice for your dogs are the rubber toys like rubber ball dog toy as they last for long time, they can resist damage and bacteria. These kinds of toys bounce and can keep a dogs attention for longer period. Always watch your dog while playing, as a tough chewer the dog can break off a piece of rubber and can choke on it. If the rubber toy breaks apart, immediately throw it away. Remove time to inspect the dog toys once a while, if you find any toy dirty wash it with mild soap.
