I was having company for dinner that night, 12 people, and I could feel the stress because I hadn't figured out what to make yet.
This wasn't any normal dinner party; this was for all of my husband's business partners. If I wasn't able to pull this off, he could lose a big upcoming deal, and there would go that new house that we were looking at.
I had mapped out all the rooms in my head and decided what I wanted to use each room for. I then searched relentlessly for recipes and ideas for a very elegant dinner. However, many of the ideas I found looked inexpensive and plain and I began to have concerns.
If I had served something humble and homey like roast beef or meatloaf to these guests, we would be stuck in a rut living a life of poverty. As I flipped through a few more pages of the book, I had a revelation. I needed to concentrate on the seafood recipes because seafood is always elegant and the perfect meal to serve.
There was a fresh fish market relatively close by. It had endless choices. Because 'take-out' wasn't an option, I decided to go wit hseafood for the amazing and tsaty dish that I needed. My eyes crossed as I studued page after page of options.
Elegant seafood is more than shellfish with so many choices of fish based seafood recipes. Most of the recipes use cod, Chilean sea bass, red snapper or haddock, but I was surprised that all things tripe were suggested as other good choices. When I created that meal, I felt like a famous television chef.
Of course I could have always made something based with lobster. But what really drew my attention were the crab based dishes. I could make something that would pop, and make them think they were eating at a fancy restaurant, or that we had this gig catered. I'm really glad that I chose a seafood recipe!
The night went without a hitch. It was the best dinner party we had ever thrown. If it hadn't been for the food, I don't think we would have pulled the deal in, and now my husband is making six figures. I'm so glad I choose to look at the seafood recipes. I really think that it saved our life!
