Home Security Systems Unmasked

By Rick Walkending

There are so many different home security devices on the market, which makes it very difficult to decide which equipment you actually want to use. However it can be easier if you are aware of all the different options that are available. If you are aware of all the options then you can make an informed decision.

The Basics

You could just go and buy every single piece of security equipment if your budget allows. However if you want to be clever then you will just want to buy the stuff that is actually useful, if you have a small budget then you'll only want to buy the stuff you actually need.

One of these vital pieces of equipment is a motion detector, every alarm needs at least one of these even if it's for your shed! These use infrared sensors to detect movement, if the alarm is armed when movement is detected then the alarm will be sounded. These sensors can be mounted on your walls, either horizontally or vertically. They can also be installed on windows to detect if they're open or broken. Most alarms enable you to set a two tone chime to each motion sensor which is particularly useful if you need to know if someone is in a certain room.

You could also install an electronic watchdog, these are a very important part of any home security system. Most of these have four different modes, watchdog, rainforest sounds and a siren. These sounds will be heard as the intruder activates one of the sensors.

Watchdog alarms are fantastic because they scare the burglar off without you actually having to keep a dog. Dogs are lovely and everything, but they involve a lot of hard work! These alarms will make anyone believe that you've got a huge dog.

If you have a pool or pond then you should certainly consider a pool alarm. These are used to alert you should anyone fall into your pond, they are extremely important if you have young children.

These pool alarms are electronic systems which will be sounded should anyone or anything fall into the pool. These systems are small, compact and highly portable. When you have fitted the system it cannot be deactivated unless you put it into sleep mode. A control unit is included in the package which should be put inside your home. This control unit will be sounded should someone fall into your pond.
