Teen Weight Loss - Five Tips For Success

By Ada Denis

Teen weight loss, like weight loss for any overweight person, is challenging. That doesn't mean it can't be done. In fact if you follow these five tips for success, your chances of success will increase- a lot.

The first tip is to plan to lose weight slowly. Remember the story of the tortoise and the hare? The message was that slow and steady wins the race. Well weight loss is kind of like that. You can be like the hare and lose a lot of weight quickly, but after a short time, that lost weight slowly creeps back on. Or you can be like the tortoise and gradually but steadily, lose weight and keep it off.

The second tip is to avoid any fad diets. There are lots of these types of weight loss plans for teens. These diets appeal because they promise you will lose loads of weight quickly. What they can't promise is for that weight to stay off once you go off of the plan and start eating normally again.

Tip three is to get some exercise while you are trying to lose weight. Adding some extra activity while cutting back on calories will speed up your metabolism. A faster working metabolism translates into even more weight loss.

Tip four is to eat a balanced diet. The reason you are dieting is to get slimmer of course. But wouldn't it be nice if you could maintain your weight loss without having to always be dieting.

The final tip is to change your eating habits. It will be easier to maintain your weight because you won't always have to be thinking about what you're eating.
