By Daphne McSmith

You asked for them, so here they are - more cupcake decorations ideas - in enough time for your Christmas celebrations. These Christmas cupcakes are fun and easy to prepare, and are sure to be a hit with your family and friends. So, get baking - and decorating - those cupcakes!

- Sprinkles are just about the easiest way to go, any time of year. For quick and simple, yet festive Christmas cupcakes, all you need do is bake up a batch of cupcakes (from scratch, or if you're really in a time crunch, use your favorite mix.) Then, top with green, white, or red frosting; toss on some green and red sprinkles, and you have quick and easy Christmas cupcakes.

- The weather outside may be frightful ... many, mini-snowdrifts-in-a-cup is the idea here. Top your little cakes with white icing (you can use red or green if you like) toss on some grated coconut, and dust them with powdered sugar. Who needs a horse and sleigh out in the cold ... when these are a lot toastier - and tastier?

- Draw Christmas trees on your white-frosted cupcakes, using gel icing (available in tubes, in a variety of colors) from most grocery stores. Form basic triangles in making your Christmas tree shapes; wavy lines or straight work best. If you get truly inspired, try other shapes (bells, stars, etc.) as well!

- This is one that will work for parties year-round - birthdays, holidays ... not just Christmas. What we're doing is creating place markers or party favors in the form of gift-wrapped packages in miniature on top of each cupcake. Vary your colors of frosting, use square/cubed candies to resemble boxes, and long, thin candy such as licorice for bows ... your name cards are made from gift tags ... can you say "hit of the party?"

- Frosty the Cupcake - kids of all ages will love these snowman cupcakes; start with white icing, add a large marshmallow, then top that with a small marshmallow. To hold your squishy snowman together, insert a toothpick through the marshmallows, into the cupcake. For Frosty's features, an assortment of small candies (dots, beads, etc.) work best, with a dab of icing helping to hold the candies in place.

- Delivering the goodies ... these Christmas train cupcakes are sure to be a hit - Tootsie rolls are ideal for your "cars" - but try fruit roll-ups, licorice, etc. as well. M&M's make great wheels, of course, as do other sweet little round morsels; for your train's "tracks," black licorice works best. Use a long serving dish to make a multi-cupcake, side-by-side train (take a couple snapshots before they dig in!)

These cupcake decorations for Christmas are sure to make you a hit with family, friends, and at holiday parties. Enjoy the creative process, and of course, the yummy results! You can find your decorating supplies in a lot of places - grocers, party supply stores, even the corner convenience market (or try our recommended supplier.)
