What Do Tubal Reversal Doctors Charge for Tubal Reversal Cost?

By Sandra Wilson

While I was searching on Yahoo Answers a day or so ago, I found some answers that were being provided about tubal reversal cost that were just wrong. Using information from two of the best tubal reversal doctors who perform this operation, I want to set the record straight. Hopefully, after reading this article you will know a little more about tubal reversal cost or at least better than the erroneous information that has been given.

However, before we get to setting things straight here, you might want to understand that doing a Google search on tubal reversal cost will give you the sites of tubal reversal doctors where they actually publish their prices. Doing this, rather than hoping to get good information from answer sites, will give you the facts. And if a doctor does not publish his price on his website, most likely there will be a way to contact him to get the information.

Some question were just straight out requests for tubal reversal cost prices, such as the lady who had decided to have the surgery but had no idea of the cost. A respondent told her that the prices were at least $10,000 and on up to $20,000. This, of course, depended upon the doctor. And the answer stated that the success rate for tubal ligation reversal is less than 50%. I'll address this next. As for the price range offered, the answer was correct to say that the price could get quite high, up to $20,000 and even higher. However, many of the top tubal reversal doctors do not charge that amount. In fact, the leading reversal surgeon at Chapel Hill Tubal Reversal Center only charges $5900 with the discount applied. See his website for more information.

Furthermore, the success rate that was quoted in that answer, less than 50%, is wrong. While success rate does depend upon many things, including the surgeon's skill (the more experienced he is the better), it is better than 50%, not less than. A study conducted at the Chapel Hill Tubal Reversal Center in 2007 shows a success rate after tubal reversal of up to 87%. Check it out and you will see how different factors do affect the outcome.

On another question, although the answer chosen as the best was very good, one answer giver guessed that the cost was probably $20,000 at least, if not more. Again, this is extremely high for a surgeon who specializes in untying tubes but not unheard of from a doctor who may do one or two such surgeries a year.

In another answer to the question of tubal reversal cost, the answer was given that tubal reversals are "pretty expensive" and that IVF might be a better alternative. The answer furthermore stated that reversals aren't always successful and you could end up having "to use IVF anyway."

On average, one cycle of IVF costs more than the tubal reversal surgery. It is $10,000 to $12,000 per cycle compared to $8,000 to $9,000. Again, those are averages. And, on average, IVF will require three cycles before a successful pregnancy. I would highly suggest you look into what you have to do, and have done to your body, when comparing IVF to tubal reversal. But, as I stated above, you will find surgeons, including the world's leading tubal reversal doctors, who charge less than the average amount. This will apply to IVF as well.

In one answer given a couple years ago, the old "you get what you pay for" was trotted out comparing the surgery to shoes and stating you have to pay more for quality. The answer also said to just call the local OBs to find out what they charge. First off, if you have done any looking around the Internet, you will know that the world's best tubal reversal doctors, like the ones at Chapel Hill Tubal Reversal Center, charge prices that are lower than the average tubal reversal cost. They have a better background, training and experience than you will find in the vast majority of your local OBs concerning this procedure. This is not a case of you pay more and get more experience. So please keep that in mind and do your research.

They have a better qualifications, coaching and encounter than you will discover in many your regional OBs concerning this process.
