Great Decorating Idea: Area Rugs As Wall Decors

By Randy Hoover

If you're at a loss with what to put on your large, boring wall, a very simple yet effective way is to hang an area rug. That's right. Rug that is meant for the floor. Decorating ideas are evolving and just getting better and better each time, so it's not surprising to know that an area rug can also be used as a wall dcor.

An example of a nice place to put an area rug as a wall decor is on a large wall like in the entryway separating areas of the house. For instance, the hallway to the staircase and the first floor to the second storey. The wall's space will be filled up and an object with color. This is a simple way to improve a wall's otherwise blank appearance.

Even if you live in a smaller home that does not have a large wall that needs adornment, you can still use area rugs as wall hangings. Just use smaller rugs. Instead of struggling about what type of wall hanging you want to put somewhere or purchasing a picture that you do not really like, you can use an area rug.

When you are choosing an area rug to hang on the wall, you should choose one with some sort of design. You will not want to hang a plain area rug on the wall, but one with some type of design. The design does not have to be ornate, however. Although there are rugs that are made primarily as wall hangings, any area rug with a design can be used in this manner. This will not only add color to the room, but it will also add a bit of warmth. The area rugs on the walls will make the room seem cozier.

In hanging, use a strong double-sided tape and make sure the rug hangs naturally. Necessary hanging equipment or materials are available in department stores, frame shops and craft stores. Some rugs don't need to be totally taped to the wall. Securing the top part is all that it needs. Just make sure that you hang the rug properly so as not have an awkward look and have it fall down. You'll end up doing more work if that happens.

Take advantage of this decorating idea to display your favorite colors or designs. You don't have to purchase an artwork or an expensive photograph. You don't even have to hang your portrait if you're too shy for that. The convenience of decorating an area rug solves the problem and putting it up is so easy too, for all you need is a tape and no drilling is required. Mansion, average house or a space-limited apartment is no big deal. Each can have a suitable area rug with the ideal size. It's just perfect.
