How to Select the Right Type of Baseball Bats

By J. del Rosario

If you're a big baseball fan then you'll know that the right mix of skills and equipment is the key to a great game. At the forefront of the equipment are your baseball bats. For seasoned players however, going out and grabbing the first thing on the shelf is not the answer, nor is it about the price tag. It's all about finding what is right for you.

To this end, you will have to take into consideration the features and technology involved. In the case of baseball bats, it's performance is based on its construction. Weight, materials and design are all crucial elements in the performance of any baseball. So before you go out and buy your baseball bats, you should first consider which brands are most suited to your preferences.

There are different brands of bats that you can try. Some notable brands include:

DeMarini Anderson Easton Akadema Worth

To provide competitive quality, each unique brand of bats are made with its own unique design. Along with the price tag, these will help you make a list of prospective bats.

To start, different bats are made from different designs, materials, technologies, etc... Some allow for better weight and compression, while others focus on on a much firmer grip. Worth Lithium Edge Senior League Baseball Bat for example, uses a Silencer Leather Grip to reduce sting vibration; whereas the DeMarini's Voodoo Black uses Pitch Black Handle to maximize handle performance through the use of the optimum flex.

We should also keep in mind that different bats have different measurements. Variations in measurement usually refer to the handle and barrel of the bats, which in turn influence the materials that will be used to create the bat. So when you're ready to start looking at your options, it's important to look at the bat's measurements and materials (wood or aluminum for example), and not just its weight.

In the case of a bat's composition, let's use carbon composites as an example. Bats like the DeMarini CF3 combine a Carbon Reinforced Composite vibration reduction system with a genuine Demarini Doublewall composite barrel to provide increased batting power.

And since we're discussing design and measurements, let's also take the time to discuss knobs and handles. High velocity bat-on-ball collisions may sometimes cause a lot of pain to your hands, so it's a good idea to look for a bat that can reduce impact vibration and shock. In this case, a good example which we can use is the Anderon's PyroTech XT (-5) Senior League Baseball Bat. It features the Ergonomic Knob - which orthopedic surgeons helped design - is capable of reducing the chances of hand trauma as a result of bat on ball impact. Moreover, it also includes the Ultra-Thin Whip Handle which is designed to reduce an impact's sting on your wrists by reducing the bat's vibration.

If you know where to look, you have lot of options. Some bats are made from classical design, while there are also those which are made from new technologies and materials. So choosing the right bat is really up to you.
